Nurturing New Families is a psychology practice providing telehealth services to all of Australia.
I accept GP and self-referrals for the following presentations:
- Infant and toddler sleep support
- Infant cry-fuss behaviours
- Mild-moderate perinatal anxiety and depression
- Pre-birth education and support
- Parental burnout
- General parenting support and education
Please note that all services are for parents/carers. Babies up until 18months can be present during sessions. Other arrangements will need to be made for children 18months+ as sessions may need to discuss topics that are not appropriate for children.
I do not currently provide any diagnostic assessments or NDIS support.
It is important to me that parents or parents-to-be who chose to engage with this service have an understanding of what I provide. That is why I’m offering a free 15min no-obligation phone call to ensure that we are the right fit for each other. You can also read more about my approaches to these areas below:
Sleep: I provide evidence-based support to optimise your babies and toddlers sleep – and yours! We will work within realistic developmental expectations for where your child is at to help mum and baby get the most rest. This will not involve any form of sleep training or specified settling strategies and you can continue to respond to your baby and help them to sleep in whatever way feels right for your family.
Cry-fuss behaviours: Getting help with your babies crying and fussing behaviours can be helpful if you feel that it is excessive, if you are finding it overwhelming or unmanageable to cope with, or wanting different ways of responding. You will be provided with tools to help you understand and respond to your baby in a way that reduces the need for the crying/fussing behaviour, remembering that all behaviour is communicating a need.
Mental health: Mental health support for parents/parents to be can help manage the incredible transition to parenthood or a new addition to the family. I primarily use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy along with skills training in different areas as needed, but the approach will be determined by your presentation and preferences. I also provide Imagery rescripting for birth traumas/other traumas as needed.
Parenting support: Parenting is challenging for anyone, and even more so if you have decided to break a generational cycle of doing things a certain way. I focus on supporting parents by helping to identify values, assisting to read and meet the needs beneath your child’s behaviours and respond in ways that will strengthen and build your connection to create a relationship of safety and trust.
